Mathematics is such an important subject that we need at all levels of education irrespective of the field of study. Its practical application is great and it ranges from its use in our day to day life to the highly sophisticated application in the world of technology.

Concepts and skills in basic mathematics have got daily application in our day to day life, finance, in business, in production to mention but a few. For example in business one has to calculate profits and losses, in production one has to calculate the cost of production and set a profit margin.

Key to success in any of those areas, is the minimum operations of how to; add, subtract, multiply and divide, approximation and rounding off, use of fractions and percentages and measurement. All these concepts are introduced in this course.

In this course, trainees are expected to work with whole numbers, and their operations, apply numbers and sets to real situations, handle operations of fractions and percentages, calculate profit, loss, discount and commission and deal with measurement of mass, length and time.

Assessment will be done in the following ways and in the aspects shown below:

1. Continuous Assessment 40 marks
2. End of Semester Final exam 60 marks
