Overview

The course introduces the trainees to the science and art of mapmaking, covers the definition and description of Cartography, map reading and interpretation. It looks into photographs and photographic interpretation and the general brief introduction to the   concepts of GPS, GIS and remote sensing as applied in geography.

To equip learners with practical skills of observation, analysis and interpretation of Geographical phenomena 

  1. To explain elaborately the meaning of maps and Cartography.
  2. To enable learners identify Geographical features using grid references.
  3. To interpret maps and photos for location and development purposes.
  4. To draw and interpret map sketches, graphs and photos.
  5. To equip learners with skills of drawing and measurement in Geography.
  1. To produce learners apply the skills of Observation, Interpretation, Identification and work as a team.
